At Compass, we strive to provide support, guidance and compassion to individuals seeking help. We are an integrative private practice focused on grief and loss, caregiver support across the lifespan and acculturation issues, as well as disordered eating care with a focus on medical and psychological stabilization. Our commitment to our clients is to help them identify, understand and re-imagine life stressors as controllable experiences for personal growth.

At Compass, clinicians adapt therapeutic approaches on a case-by-case basis to meet the emotional and cognitive needs of our clients. For example, a session with an 8-year-old might incorporate experiential play therapy, whereas a session with an adolescent or adult might engage with more traditional talk therapy. Further examples are caregiver support such as allowing space for them to process their own emotional distress which may include feelings of shame, worry, guilt, among other confusing feelings to acculturation issues such as adapting to a new environment. In short, we tailor services to the needs and motivations of our clients and their families.

In treating our clients, we draw primarily from traditional therapeutic methods and evidence-based approaches supported by research. Treatment modalities that one should expect include the following among others: Kessler’s Grief Educator Training, which offers support to loved ones after a loss; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which looks at how thoughts influence feelings and behaviors; Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), which teaches core skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation, and the importance of interpersonal relationships; and Family-based Therapy, which recognizes the supportive roles families play in disorder eating treatment. We offer services in English or Spanish.

treatment specialization includes:

  • Grief & Loss

  • Anxiety

CANCELLATION POLICY

If you miss your appointment or if you cancel with less than a 24-hour notice, you will still be required to pay for the missed session. That said, there are always allowances.

I have a special interest in caregiver support and in grief. I work with individuals across the lifespan (i.e. from school-age to those in their golden years and everything in-between). I also have a strong affinity in acculturation issues due to my own experience living abroad on several occasions. I have experience in outpatient and inpatient care, as well as in administering diagnostic evaluations and conducting crisis assessments. I refined my skills and approach while working at Hasbro Children Hospital's Eating Disorder Program and at Gateway Healthcare's Med-Psych unit (a collaborative project with the Partial Hospital Program at Hasbro).
