My approach

My approach is to provide support, guidance, and compassion to individuals seeking help. I am a clinical social worker with expertise in the areas of eating disorders, chronic illnesses, and somatic symptom disorders. My focus is the medical and psychological complexities often associated with these diagnoses. I mainly work with children, adolescents, young adults, and their families. I have experience in outpatient and inpatient care, as well as in administering diagnostic evaluations and conducting crisis assessments. Moreover, I refined my skills and approach while training at Hasbro Children's Eating Disorder Program and at Gateway Healthcare's Med-Psych unit (a collaborative project with the Partial Hospital Program at Hasbro). Rooted in family-based therapy, my commitment to my clients is to help them identify, understand, and re-imagine life stressors as controllable opportunities for personal growth.

my work

I adapt my specific approach on a case-by-case basis to meet the emotional and cognitive needs of my clients. For example, my sessions with an 8-year-old might incorporate experiential play therapy, whereas my sessions with an adolescent or young adult might engage with more traditional talk therapy. In short, I tailor my services to the needs and motivations of my clients and their families.

My services

I am able to meet with my clients either in the office or at their preferred environment such as their home. The latter allows us to meet at a location in which you or your child feels most at ease. Furthermore, I am bilingual in English and Spanish. In treating my clients, I draw primarily from traditional therapeutic methods and evidence-based approaches supported by research. These treatment modalities include the following among others: Family-based Therapy (also known as the Maudsley Approach), which recognizes the supportive roles families play in treatment; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which looks at how thoughts influence feelings and behaviors; and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), which teaches core skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation, and the importance of interpersonal relationships.

treatment specialization includes:

  • Eating Disorders
  • Chronic Illness
  • Somatic Symptom Disorders
  • Self-Injurious Behaviors
  • Depression and Anxiety
  • Parent Support
  • Meal Coaching
  • Trauma
  • Grief & Loss

Unfortunately, sessions with a therapist are not covered by the French "Sécurité sociale." Some private health insurance plans do offer reimbursement; however, I cannot guarantee that therapy will be covered under any given insurance policy.
